“This is the first of many players I hope to see placed into prestigious summer baseball leagues over the next several seasons,” says Union's head baseball coach Paul Mound.

The Nashua Silver Knights are a summer baseball team competing in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). Their 24 player roster consists primarily of New England athletes currently playing collegiate baseball, at the Division 1, 2 or 3 levels, with local community ties. These players will be under the watchful eye of professional baseball scouts with the hope of being selected in Major League Baseball's amateur draft.

“Dave is a talented, dedicated player,” Mound goes on to say. “His passion and work ethic for the game will make him a valuable asset to Nashua this summer. He will join several talented Division 1 and Division 2 baseball stars in defending their title.”

Peretti started in 24 of 27 games during the 2011 season for the Dutchmen. The Easton, Massachusetts native posted a .307 batting average in 75 at bats while recording 23 hits, 11 runs, and 15 RBI's. As catcher, Peretti had a fielding percentage of .986. The sophomore was also named Liberty League Honorable Mention.

Mound adds, “I am confident that Dave will be a major contributor this summer, opening up opportunities for future Union College players to compete in this tremendous league - Congratulations Dave.”

The Union College baseball team kicks off the 2012 season in Winter Haven, Florida with the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Dutchmen take on Allegheny College (Pennsylvania) on March 18th in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
