ARLIS & GOINS INVITED TO MLB CAMP

Waterloo, IA - Two former Waterloo Bucks have been invited to Major League camps for Spring Training as non-roster invitees. Pat Arlis will report to Milwaukee Brewers' Spring Training when pitchers and catchers report on February 19, while Ryan Goins will report to the Toronto Blue Jays' camp on February 24.

Former Waterloo catcher Pat Arlis

Pat Arlis comes into Milwaukee's camp with 10 years of minor league experience under his belt. The Addison, Illinois native most recently played with the Brewers' AAA affiliate, the Nashville Sounds. Arlis has played in 420 games of minor league baseball, hitting .226 with 14 home runs, 121 RBI, and a .306 on-base percentage.

The University of Illinois product played for the Bucks from 2000 to 2002. In 65 games for Waterloo, Arlis hit .162 with nine RBI and a .301 on-base percentage. Arlis was selected by the Florida Marlins in the 11th round of the 2002 MLB Amateur Draft.

Former Bucks infielder Ryan Goins

Ryan Goins will be heading to Dunedin, Florida to join Toronto's camp this spring. Goins has been in the Blue Jays' organization since being drafted by the team in the fourth round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft. Last season, the Round Rock, Texas native played A ball for the Dunedin Blue Jays in the Florida State League where he hit .286 with three home runs and 52 RBI. Goins is hitting .271 in 272 games as a professional, with six home runs, 122 RBI, and a .365 slugging percentage.

Goins, who played with Waterloo in 2008, hit .318 in 38 games for the Bucks with 12 doubles and 13 RBI. A Dallas Baptist University product, Goins was selected to participate in the '08 NWL All-Star Game. Goins finished his year in Waterloo with a .439 slugging percentage and two home runs in 148 at bats.
