May, a native of Liberty Township, OH, was a 39th round draft pick in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. Following an injury to begin the season, the speedy Freshman has started 38 games for the Chanticleers, a team expected to appear in the upcoming NCAA Division I baseball tournament.

The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today that Ryan Ruiz, their scheduled Field Manager for the 2011 season, will not be joining the team this summer due to his new collegiate coaching responsibilities. Ruiz has accepted an assistant coaching position at Grand Canyon University, a Division II university in Phoenix, AZ, and will need to stay on campus and head up their recruiting process.

The Fayetteville SwampDogs have announced three more additions to their pitching staff. Michael Trionfo, Steven Sarcone, and Brewer Carter will all make their SwampDogs debut this June.
Trionfo has been a cog in Towson University’s rotation this season, recording three wins in a team-high 12 starts. The 5-9, 175-pound sophomore from Jacksonville, Md., has made 22 starts in his two years with the Tigers, with six wins to his credit.

The Thomasville HiToms announced today that sophomore left handed pitcher Brian Holmes (picture courtesy of Wake Forest Sports Information) out of Wake Forest University will be in uniform when the season opens later this month.
Out of Lawrenceville, GA and spent last season at Young Harris Junior College where he went 4-2 with an 8.16 ERA. The 6-3 pitcher averaged a strikeout an inning fanning 43 hitters in as many innings.

The Wilson Tobs added some more depth to their pitching staff for the summer with the additions of Lance Honeycutt, Jon Levin and Gil Walker.
Honeycutt is a junior RHP from Eastern Carolina who has yet to allow a run with the Pirates this season. He has struck out half of the opposing batters he has faced in 2011. Last summer, Honeycutt was a part of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League and had a lot of success. In 37.1 innings pitched Honeycutt fanned 45 batters. In 2009, Honeycutt played for the Asheboro Copperheads of the Coastal Plain League. “ Lance has experience in the CPL and knows how to pitch out of the bullpen, which will be a huge asset to our team in the late innings” said manager Bruce Johnson.

The HiToms announced today that they have signed two infielders to help Jeff Steele’s squad this summer. Garrett Koster out of Elon and Jacob Rogers from Mount Olive will be in Thomasville for the summer.
Originally from Fort Mill, S.C., Koster has made the move to Elon for his junior campaign. Prior to Elon, he spent time at Winthrop where as a freshman, he hit .239 in 19 games.

Tapping into tranditional baseball hot-beds, the Dutchmen inked three stand outs from colleges in the Western region. Rounding out their 2011 outfield is Pepperdine junior, Ryan Vam Amburg, who will be joined in Albany by utility infielder Ryan Cox of Texarkana (TX) and left-handed starting pitcher Chase Tokunaga of Feather River College in California.

Thursday's rain didn't stop the Moose Jaw Miller Express from getting onto the diamond at Ross Wells Park.
With the majority of the team in town, they held their first practice and got acquainted with their new teammates.
The Millers open the 2011 Western Major Baseball League regular season tomorrow at Ross Wells against the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets.

Eastern Illinois IF/OF Zach Borenstein was recently named to the the First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference List. Zach, a Buffalo Grove, IL native, hit .349 in 195 at-bats for the Panthers. He added 38 runs, 29 runs batted in and he hit 7 home runs. He also stole 9 bases this season. He led the team in batting average, hits (68) and runs scored. He also hit .400 during conference play. Five players from the California, including a pair of Anteaters, have agreed to join the Cowlitz Black Bears summer collegiate wood-bat baseball team.
Andy Lines and Trent Zaks from the University of California-Irvine, Andrew Brooks of Concordia University in California, Dax Turner of Sacramento State University and Mitchell Walding of St. Mary's High of Stockton are joining the West Coast League team based at David Story Field at Lower Columbia College.

The Forest City Owls announced today the signing of four players, two each from Rice and North Carolina State.
Rice and Forest City will be sharing more than just a nickname this summer. Two players will represent the 2011 Conference USA champions at McNair Field: right-handed pitcher Jeremy Fant and catcher Craig Manuel. Two members of the N.C. State Wolfpack will remain in the Tar Heel State: pitchers Danny Healey and D.J. Thomas.

Pump Jacks Look Locally and to Big 12 for Newest Players

The East Texas Pump Jacks have gone back to their roots to add three new players to the roster for 2011. Today the Pump Jacks announced the signing of Angelina College ace Chase Greening, a Lufkin native, as well as University of Missouri teammates C.J. Jarvis and James Hudelson.
Greening joins several East Texas natives on the Pump Jacks roster, including White Oak’s Blake Ware, Tyler’s Brett Pirtle and Jason Jester from Hallsville.

With the season right around the corner, field manager Dale Varsho has announced the verbal commitment of Gabby De Varona, a freshman first baseman at DMACC.
De Varona fills one of the final remaining roster spots for the Express as the 2011 season is only two weeks away. This spring he has put up huge numbers in the power category. In 58 games, he is hitting .317, with 16 home runs, 12 doubles and a triple. He leads the team in RBIs with 52 and slugging percentage with a .628 mark.

The Elmira Pioneers announced today that they have signed Larry Van Allen to replace Gabe Memmert as the team's hitting coach. Van Allen played professionally for 6 teams during his 9 year career. The Grambling University alumni has previously coached for Pioneers Skipper Dan Shwam with the Laredo Broncos (United League) and Can Am Grays (Can-Am League). He has also coached the last three years at Warren Central HS in Vicksburg, MS.

The Wilson Tobs announced today their promotion schedule for 2011. The Tobs have eight Thirsty Thursdays, where fans can enjoy 16 ounce drafts for $1.50. There will also be two Thomas and Farris Fireworks nights, June 18 vs. Outer Banks and July 4 vs. Edenton.
The Tobs invite all fans to enjoy a picnic in the park on July 11, when first pitch is at 11:05am. It will be the only day game played at Fleming Stadium this season, and fans attending the game can purchase an Ice Cream Option that includes a general admission ticket, one hot dog, chips, one drink, and an ice cream voucher for just $8.00.

Former Newport Gulls pitcher, Adam Wilk, got the call of a lifetime late
yesterday informing him that the Tigers purchased his contract from their Triple-A Affiliate, the Toledo Mud Hens.

The Redding Colt .45s have been serious about upgrading their roster.
The local summer collegiate baseball team figures to have at least 13 players on its roster that are at or headed to Division I programs this year. That's not including two players from Grand Valley State, currently the No. 1-ranked team in Division II.
"We're getting more D-I players and high-end D-II players," Colt .45s manager Greg Cadaret said.

Tony Bryant is a superb 6-7/210 pound RHP from Oregon State University. He is from Kennewick, WA and he was a 25th round selection by the Twins in last years draft. Tony is 3-2 and has a 1.42 era in 44.1 innings pitched this year. He is the Beavers closer (10 saves) and he has fanned 39 batters this year. He is sporting a 1.09 WHIP and a K/9 of 7.92 era this season.
