Five Questions With Brent Powers

Brent Powers is a Senior LHP from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. Brent is 6-2/205 pounds and hails from Richardson, TX. He went to high school at J.J. Pearce High.

Brent spent this summer pitching for the Morehead City Marlins of the Coastal Plain League. He had an outstanding summer for the newest team in the league. Brent went 7-2 and had a 1.85 era in 53.1 innings pitched.. He allowed just 35 hits and had a bb/k ratio of 15/70 this summer. He made 8 starts, completed two games and had 1 shutout. He tied for first in the league with his 7 wins, and he was 5th in the league in strikeouts.

He was ranked as the 17th best prospect in the league by Perfect Game. PG has said that "Brent was the most effective lefty in the league this summer."


Brent recently answered five questions for us.

Summer Ball--Who was your favorite baseball player when you were younger?
Brent Powers--It has been and always will be Babe Ruth.

SB--What was the best thing about playing for the Marlins this summer?
BP--Being a part of an inaugural team that came together and "glued" better than any team I've ever been a part of.

SB--What are your personal goals for the upcoming season at SHSU?
BP--I want another championship ring and to make it deep into the NCAA playoffs.

SB--What is your favorite baseball stadium?
BP--Sandlot! I can still quote every line.

SB--In your opinion, which team in the Southland Conference has the nicest baseball stadium?
BP--I believe our playing surface rivals any field in Texas, but we do not seat as much as other stadiums. I s till believe we have the best overall facilities.
