From the University of Southern Utah's Press Release
CEDAR CITY, Utah - May 19 - Southern Utah's Nick Freitas has been named The Summit League Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Oral Roberts' Brian Van Kirk, after a strong week in which the junior made a run on a couple of records at SUU. The award is Freitas' first of the year and fourth for a Thunderbird.
Freitas put some fresh ink on the history books of Southern Utah by moving into No. 3 all-time in home runs during a season, increasing his season total to 15 after four home runs during the week. The junior also recorded four stolen bases during the four-game series with Oakland University to move within one of the all-time single-season stolen base mark set in 2006. In all, Freitas led the team in home runs (four), hits (ten), total bases (23), slugging percentage (.920) and stolen bases (4-of-4) as the Thunderbirds secured the No. 2 seed going into The Summit League Baseball Tournament
Southern Utah will open the tournament with a 3:00 p.m. matinée against Western Illinois on Thursday afternoon in Tulsa, Okla.
**Nick will be playing for the Kelowna Falcons of the WCCBL this summer.
